Singer songwriter Tsukamoto to perform
WINDSOR — Hiroya Tsukamoto, guitarist and singer-songwriter, will perform for the Connecticut Guitar Society Winter Series at 2 p.m. Jan. 20 at Windsor Arts Center, 40 Mechanic Street, Windsor.
Tickets are $20 nonmembers, $15 CGS members, $10 Students with ID. Advance ticket reservations are recommended.
Composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter Tsukamoto is a native of Kyoto, Japan. His love for music began when playing the five-string banjo at age 13; soon he took up the guitar, the instrument he never stopped playing. In 2000, Tsukamoto’s formal musical journey started when he was awarded a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Since then, he has been leading concerts internationally, including appearances at Blue Note in New York City and Japanese National Television. He has appeared with acclaimed musicians such as Esperanza Spalding, The Kennedys, Joe Jencks (Brother Sun), Michael League (Snarky Puppy), Brooks Williams and Jim Kweskin.
His renowned group Interoceanico combines the talent and vision of musicians from all over the world, including the Latin Grammy singer Marta Gomez
Tsukamoto has released three albums “Heartland,” “Places” and “Confluencia.”
The Connecticut Guitar Society is a nonprofit organization devoted to the promotion of all styles of guitar music throughout the New England.
