FARM BUREAU MEETING: The Litchfield County Farm Bureau and the Litchfield County Dairy Committee will hold its annual Winter Dinner Meeting, Jan. 24, at the UConn Extension Center, 843 University Drive, Torrington. CHESS CLUB: The Litchfield County Chess Club meets Thursdays at the Torrington Library, 12 Daycoeton Place, Torrington, from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. on Thursdays. CIVIL WAR ROUND TABLE: The Connecticut Civil War Round Table will hold its January meeting on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the Torrington Library Community Room, 12 Daycoeton Place, Torrington. Guest speaker is Hamish Lutris, presenting “Animal Mascots In The War” at noon. A social hour will follow together with refreshments and a book raffle. Donations are accepted from nonmembers. NORTHLIGHT ART CENTER SHOW: The Sharon Historical Society & Museum’s next exhibit in Gallery SHS is the ninth annual Northlight Art Center Student Show, through March 8, with an opening reception Jan. 19, 5-7 p.m. The show features a wide variety of art by students of all ages, including drawings, pastels, watercolors, acrylic and oil paintings, representing a wide range of subject matter.
