Hospital’s artist of month: ShawnaLee Kwashnak
TORRINGTON — The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the artwork of ShawnaLee Kwashnak now through early February 2019 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Kwashnak is an awardwinning New England artist who loves animals, a warm cup of coffee, and bringing joy to others by creating portraits of pets and people. With attention to detail, she strives to capture the spirit of her subjects in every work. Each piece is created entirely by hand in the time honored way of using authentic artist materials.
A Cum Laude graduate from Western Connecticut State University with a BA in Studio Art and Graphic design/Illustration, Kwashnak has been instructing art for over 27 years. She has served as Youth Art Director and Program Developer for the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, and taught at many venues as well as privately. Upcoming classes may be found via the Arts and Culture Collaborative winter catalogue, via her website (www.shawnalee.com) or on Facebook (“Portraits by ShawnaLee).
Kwashnak is a current board member of the CT Society of Portrait Artists, a member of SCAN (Society for Creative Arts of Newtown) and the Richter Association for Arts.
