Police find cache of drugs inside city home

TORRINGTON — A cache of heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine was recovered and two people were arrested this week after police searched part of a house on Hoffman Street, according to a release.

The Torrington Police Narcotics Unit, Detective Division and Special Response Team served a search and seizure warrant at 39/41 Hoffman St. Wednesday after an investigat­ion into the alleged sale of narcotics from the second and third floors of the multifamil­y dwelling, the release said.

The officers who went to the house found approximat­ely 32 grams of cocaine, 31⁄2 grams of crack cocaine, and 67 bags of heroin, and drug parapherna­lia “consistent with drug packaging for sale/distributi­on, and money,” the release said.

The Narcotics Unit charged Juan Quinones, 33, of 39 Hoffman St. 3rd floor, with three counts of possession with intent to sell cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin, possession of drug parapherna­lia/packaging material, and possession of narcotics in a school zone, the release said.

Southwest School is located less than 1,500 feet from 39 Hoffman St.

Also arrested was Anthony Lopes, 26, who was at the residence during the warrant search, police said. He is charged on an outstandin­g failure to appear warrant, police said.

Quinones was released on bond and is due in Superior Court Feb. 25, police said. Lopes is being held in lieu of court set $2,500 bail, online court records show.
