‘How Litchfield works’ forum planned
LITCHFIELD — In anticipation of the municipal elections in November, Litchfield Democrats are offering an informational forum, “How Litchfield Works” on Monday, Feb. 25, in the upstairs room at the Village Restaurant from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There will be a brief presentation about Litchfield’s Town Meeting form of government and the important commissions and boards. Democratic members of the boards will be there to answer questions and address issues. This event, the first in a series, is family friendly, with light refreshments and a cash bar.
Members are also planning a March forum on Issues Critical to Litchfield and a June forum on How Campaigns Work. Visit www.litchfielddems.com for more information.
For those who skip voting in municipal elections because they are unfamiliar with the people and the issues, these informational events are intended to help change that. “Local elections matter: The quality of the people we elect to local government affects our property values, the quality of our schools, the readiness of our emergency services volunteers, the regulation of our local businesses and the preservation of our natural resources and open space. All of these services are financed by our property taxes, which for many of us is the largest check we write all year,” members said in a statement.
All are welcome to attend. For information contact Jennine Lupo, Chair, Democratic Town Committee at jenninelupo@gmail.com or 203-768-6460.
