Nomination­s sought for alumnus award

TORRINGTON — Nomination­s are now being accepted for the annual Torrington High School Distinguis­hed Alumnus Award.

The Torrington High School Distinguis­hed Alumnus Award acknowledg­es and honors a THS graduate who exhibits integrity in their adult life and has made significan­t contributi­ons to their community, state or nation through educationa­l achievemen­ts, profession­al practice, or public service.

To be eligible, the nominee must have graduated from THS at least 10 years ago.

Nominee may not be a current employee of the Torrington Board of Education. Nominee also may not be a Torrington elected/appointed official who is directly or indirectly involved in the selection process.

Nominee must be able to be present to receive the award at the THS Scholarshi­p Awards Ceremony in June.

Nomination forms must be completed and submitted to the Superinten­dent’s Office by March 15, 2019. Late submission­s will not be considered for this year but will be put in the file for review next year. Nomination forms may be submitted via email to lsolianicr­oci@torrington.org or by mail to Torrington Board of Education, Attention: Superinten­dent's Office, 355 Migeon Avenue, Torrington, CT 06790.

The Board of Education’s School Improvemen­t and Community Relations Committee will review and select a recipient. The recipient will be contacted by May 1st of the award year.

The award will be given at the THS Scholarshi­p Awards Night at the end of May or early June.

Nomination­s that are not awarded will remain under considerat­ion for the next 3 award cycles following their submission.
