Gallery announces new exhibit

TORRINGTON, CONN. —Five Points Annex Gallery, located at 17 Water St. in downtown Torrington, will host an exhibit featuring members of Hartford based artist collective Audacious Agency, showcasing their socially aware traveling art exhibit. This exhibit will feature painters Andre Rochester, Shelley D. Best, mixed media artists Zulynette Morales and Patrick “Rico” Williams, and photograph­er Keith Claytor, who will explore social injustice, racism, sexism among other themes through their respective artforms.

This exhibit runs from March 2-11, with an opening reception March 2 from 2-5 p.m. at Five Points Annex Gallery, 17 Water Street Torrington.

Audacious Agency will host an artist talk at Five Points Annex Gallery on Sunday March 10, 2-5 p.m.

Zulynette will lead a poetry workshop on Monday March 4 at 6 p.m.

Patrick “Rico” Williams will facilitate a storytelli­ng/writing workshop on Saturday March 9, at 6 p.m. The opening reception, artist talk, and workshops are free and open to the public.

The collective has confirmed dates to showcase the exhibit at five locations across the state through the end of 2019. Their debut was held at Yale Divinity School in November 2018. Five Points Annex Gallery will be the second stop on the tour. Confirmed future dates are: Windsor Art Center in Windsor (Spring 2019), Redeemer’s Church Gallery in Plainville (Summer 2019) and The 224 Ecospace in Hartford (Fall 2019).

The Annex, an expansion of the Five Points Hartford Art School/ University of Hartford Launchpad program, is a community pop-up gallery managed by the Launchpad artists. Located just steps away from the Five Points Gallery in historic downtown Torrington, The Annex Gallery offers a unique opportunit­y for local and regional artists/artisans to engage their community by offering a space to show their work.
