KEEP AN EYE ON

⏩ Winning matters: A victory over Wichita State would improve the Huskies to 115-0 all-time in American Athletic Conference play (100-0 in the regular season) and give them the outright title for the sixth time in six seasons.

While the Huskies, who rose to No. 2 in Monday’s Associated Press poll, have larger goals in mind, they do take some pride in their run of dominance within the AAC.

“It means a lot,” senior Napheesa Collier said following a 68-49 victory over Tulsa Sunday. “It just shows that we’re dominant and we are trying to stay that way. We take pride in every single championship, and we’re proud of ourselves for doing this. We hope to keep going.”

UConn’s last regular-season loss to a conference opponent was March 4, 2013 — 96-87 in triple overtime to Notre Dame.

“You look back and it’s kind of amazing,” sophomore Megan Walker said. “I think it’s our culture here. Coach (Geno Auriemma), what he preaches is what we go by every day.”

⏩ The ‘machine’: Collier is just 12 rebounds away from tying Stefanie Dolson for fifth on the school’s all-time rebounding list (1,101).

The only other players to finish top-10 in points and top-5 in rebounds at UConn are Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart and Tina Charles.

“Geno always refers to her as a ‘machine,’ ” UConn associate head coach Chris Dailey said. “She just does what she does and does it every day the exact same way. She doesn’t miss practice, she doesn’t miss anything.”

Added Walker: “She’s relentless on the boards. That’s one thing I try to (emulate).”

⏩ Growing pains: Wichita State has eight freshmen on its roster, which is tied for the most in the country with Florida Atlantic. Two of them — guards Seraphine Bastin and Carla Bremaud, the team’s leading scorer — have combined to start all but one game this season.

The Shockers (11-15, 4-9) sit a half-game in front of ECU and SMU for last place in the conference.

⏩ Will he or won’t he?: Dailey said the plan was for Auriemma to return to the sidelines against Wichita State after missing Sunday’s game with an illness. As of Monday afternoon, the school had not provided any updates on Auriemma’s status.
