JUDE TELETHON: The 40th annual Tim Driscoll St. Jude Telethon will be held Sunday at Torrington High School from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Along with a wonderful food sale, the telethon features continuous live entertainment featuring local dance schools, singing groups from local schools and other performers. WOMEN’S CLUB TO MEET: The Torrington Womens’ Club will meet Monday, March 4, Center Congregational Church, 155 Main St., Torrington. Program for the March meeting is “Black Bears in Connecticut,” presented by Felicia A. E. Ortner, who has studied bears for 35 years, and is a former volunteer with the Master Wildlife Conservationists. The program begins at 1:30 p.m. The program will be held in the rear of the church, accessible through the back entrance. All are welcome.

Former club member and local painting artist June Seiser will present a technique for creating a wooden look on a 16 x 20 canvas and her original design of a spray of forsythia. Painters should bring their regular painting supplies and small round and flat brushes. Shades will provide the canvas and paints for the project. Guests pay $5.
