What Sharon Hospital does for its communities
Dear Sharon Community, Thank you for your continued support of Sharon Hospital and for the warm welcome I’ve received since arriving here as interim president about a month ago. One thing I’ve learned quickly: This is a wonderful community filled with passionate, dedicated citizens.
We take our role as your healthcare provider very seriously, and are committed to enhancing and growing services you need.
One of the services I wanted to reflect on here is what Sharon Hospital has done and continues to do for women. Our providers cover the entire spectrum of women’s healthcare. We serve moms-to-be, provide gynecological care and do advanced mammography testing, among other services.
We’ve brought stability to our maternity department. We continue to strengthen our partnerships with Sharon OB/GYN physicians, pediatricians and others, and recruit caring, skilled OB nursing staff. We know many women desire a personalized, family-centered approach to giving birth and we are happy to provide that excellent, personal care they’ve come to count on year after year.
Women choose Sharon for their care, and we continue to look at how we can support our expecting parents in this community. We invite prospective patients to see our beautiful birthing suites and speak to our dedicated team of nurses, physicians and lactation consultants. Please call 860-364-4124 to schedule a birth center tour.
We know when it comes to breast cancer prevention and detection, women deserve the highest quality medical imaging. We brought 3D mammography to Sharon in October. That was nearly a $500,000 investment. When women have their breast screening performed, they can rest assured we use the latest technology right here in Sharon.
Supporting women who are 50 and older is also a priority. In April, we celebrate the one-year anniversary of Dr. Susan Parisi’s addition to our medical staff. A longtime community member, Dr. Parisi provides gynecological care and is helping to spearhead our focus on a new initiative — bringing integrative medicine to our campus. We want women to take an exercise class, receive nutrition counseling, massage therapy or acupuncture, and be seen by a physician who values this integrative approach. Stay tuned for more on this soon.
Finally, we are preparing to complete the first phase of our Behavioral Health department expansion. We all know the importance of providing more mental health services in our communities, and Sharon has made a commitment to assist our aging population with those needs.
Sharon might be a community hospital, but it has a big presence and will continue to provide comprehensive services for women across the age spectrum.
Thank you again for entrusting us with your care and your continued support as your hometown hospital.
