Police nab two in largescale drug operation

TORRINGTON — Two roommates ran a drug factory featuring cocaine, marijuana, various prescripti­on drugs, nitrous oxide and more out of their Prospect Street apartment, police said.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Torrington Police Narcotics Unit executed a warrant for the arrest of 33yearold Michal Bentley on numerous drug charges. Police said Bentley was detained without incident as he was returning to home.

With Bentley in custody, investigat­ors executed a search warrant on his Prospect Street home, where they found Caitlin Doyle, Bentley’s 26yearold roommate.

Police said Doyle was located sitting in the apartment’s kitchen, where a large amount of marijuana and THC edibles were laid out in plain view.

In total, police said they recovered about two pounds of marijuana, 32 THC edibles, about one pound of psychedeli­c mushrooms, nearly 3,000 tabs of LSD, two vials of liquid LSD, nearly 55 grams of cocaine, OxyContin pills, Amphetamin­e pills, about 2.5 ounces of crystal meth, six MDMA pills, numerous pills of capsulated MDMA, numerous packages of powdered MDMA , narcotics packaging, scales and two large nitrous oxide canisters.

Police said they also discovered two butane tanks with constructe­d tubing and filters known to be used to produce and manufactur­e THC paste in the apartment, as well as several business cards with Bentley’s name that were used for soliciting nitrous oxide sales.

Bentley was charged with possession with the intent to sell narcotics, possession with the intent to sell marijuana, possession with the intent to sell hallucinog­ens. possession with the intent to sell pills, possession with the intent to sell a restricted substance, operating a drug factory, possession of drug within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of drug parapherna­lia. He was held on $1 million bond and given a court date of Aug. 7.

Doyle was charged with intent to sell narcotics, possession with the intent to sell marijuana, possession with the intent to sell hallucinog­ens. possession with the intent to sell pills, possession with the intent to sell a restricted substance, possession of drug within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of drug parapherna­lia.

She was held on $150,000 bond and given a court date of Aug. 7.
