The Register Citizen (Torrington, CT)

Vote for the people, not the party

- Meg Finn, Litchfield

This is a small town. When people choose to raise their family here, you get to know them. Their kids go to school with yours. You see them at the grocery store, the pharmacy, the library, the concert on the green.

And when they offer time away from their families to take up for you, your kids, your grandchildren, you take up for them. That’s why I’ll be voting for Denise Raap, a woman who has proven her intelligence, hustle, pride and vision for our community. For Jeff Zullo, who rationally navigates all of the issues and personalities our town government involves. And for the Honorable Anne Dranginis, whose professional and civic experience to protect and advance Litchfield is invaluable.

I’ll be voting for Steve Malo, and Dave Foss: two dads and teachers who chose to raise their families here for the same reasons I did. And I’ll be voting for Tina Reardon because she said at the PTO introduction that she is compelled to serve again on the BOE in this unique 2 year position out of obligation during this transition.

I’ll be voting for Erich Marriott because his qualifications are outstanding and he admits that he must defend each of his decisions to his children and our community. And for Jodiann Tenney because at every BOE or BOF meeting I have attended, she has stood up and asked questions and shared facts to keep the boards in check.

I’m a graduate of Litchfield High School and a Center School parent. I’m frugal. I’m a registered Republican. I’m a mom looking 40 years down the road, saying, “what do we want OUR legacy to be?”

Please vote this Tuesday. Vote for the person you think will do the best job NOW for our future.
