THOMASTON — A group of 60 Thomaston area veterans and their families attended the fifth annual “Salute to Veterans” breakfast on Nov. 11 at the Thomaston Train Station.

The Railroad Museum of New England partnered with the Thomaston’s American Legion Post 22 and the Thomaston Savings Bank. Coffee and breakfast was served before and after a ceremony of appreciation. Patti’s Place of Thomaston catered the event.

Jason Meehan, Commander of Post 22 of Thomaston’s American Legion, and Lenny Cyr, Adjutant of the post, led the program to commemorate veterans of all wars.

“Veterans Day is an important time to reflect on and appreciate the service and sacrifices of our veterans,” said Steve Casey, president of the museum, as he welcomed the group of veterans and their families.

Casey thanked the founders of the veterans’ breakfast tradition at the Thomaston Train Station, George Wittman, Bob Eberheim, Al Chaponis, former Commandant, and Kim Curry, assistant vice president/regional manager of the Thomaston Savings Bank.

Among the honored guests was World War II Marine veteran from Thomaston, Francis Rothe.
