Come ‘taste’ some wonderful yarn
Several months ago, the shop hosted a yarn tasting, featuring several new yarns for the fall/winter season. Rather than have the participants knit up the obligatory swatches, it was decided that it would be more fun and purposeful to have everyone leave with an actual finished project.
Now the idea behind the yarn tasting is to “taste” or try a sample of the featured yarn to see how it knits up. Part of the fun of the yarn tasting is to see how participants like them. Every knitter likes different yarns for different reasons. Supersoft yarns are always a favorite, as well as beautifully dyed ones.
The yarn generously provided by the yarn company for the tasting was just enough for everyone to work up a small, chunky pair of fingerless mitts. A bonus to these mitts is that you can slide them down your hand, and they can become a cozy pair of wrist warmers.
Since the yarns were both multicolored and textured, no pair will ever be alike. There’s everything to love about multicolored, textured mitts, but if you add a faux fur edging, they go to a whole other level of cuteness. The silky, faux fur also feels wonderful once you have it on.
Since the pattern is written for knitting the mitts on two needles, or in the round on double pointed needles they are the perfect project for any level of knitter. A pair of mitts can be completed in an evening, making these great for holiday giftgiving.
Kits are available in the shop or online, https://insheepsclothing.com/product/ragamuffinmitts/ in neutral and multicolored versions.
Knitters are welcome to join other knitters every Thursday evening from 6:308:30 to either start their pair of mitts or work on another project. This is a great time to socialize and get some holiday gift knitting done. Please call ahead to reserve your spot, at 8604823979.
