Central Connecticut State women’s soccer: Erica Bardes scored late in the second half and Amanda McQuillan had 10 saves as the Blue Devils upset No. 4 seed Rutgers 1-0 to pick up the second NCAA tournament win in program history.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Mia Nahom, UConn cross country: Nahom, a junior from New Milford, finished fourth out of 266 runners at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. Nahom led the Huskies to a ninth-place finish and qualified for the NCAA championship meet. The Huskies also finished eighth in the men’s race as Norwalk’s Eric Van Der Els and the Fairfield duo of Will Brisman and James Maniscalco earned top 20 finishes.

Jessica Drop and Samantha Drop, Georgia women’s cross
country: The Durham natives finished third and fifth in the NCAA Division I South Regional to qualify for the NCAA championship meet. Former Wilbur Cross star Danae Rivers will also be there as her sixth-place finish helped Penn State win the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional to qualify for nationals as a team.
