Rotary Club honors Paul Harris Fellows
TORRINGTON — John Janco, Diane Libby, Kevin Sullivan and Tim & Susan Cook received the Paul Harris Recognition by the Rotary Club of Torrington & Winsted on Nov. 20.
The award honors Paul Harris, who founded Rotary in 1905. It is bestowed by local chapters of Rotary to individuals who demonstrate good will, social understanding and generosity in their local communities and in the world. In the words of Paul Harris, “Of the earth’s sad and lonesome creatures, the most helpless are they who love not their fellowmen.”
John E. Janco is the president/CEO of Torrington Savings Bank. He has served as chairman of the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Board of Governors and serves on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Region of Hartford HealthCare. He has also held leadership positions for The Torrington Historical Society, The Connecticut Bankers Association and the Torrington Club.
Diane V. Libby is a CPA and a partner with AdamsSamartino in Torrington and Bristol. She was Chairman of the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Board of Governors and currently serves on the Northwest Region Board of Directors for Hartford HealthCare. She is a corporator for Brooker Memorial and the
Torrington Historical Society.
Janco and Libby are being honored together for the critical leadership they provided in multiple aspects of the successful merger between Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Hartford HealthCare.
Kevin Sullivan is the president of Sullivan Honda and Northwest Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, and he is a partner in Northwest Hills Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, O’Neill’s Chevrolet Buick in Avon and Goosehead Insurance, the Sullivan Agency. Sullivan serves (or has served) on the Boards of Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce, Canton Lions (past president), United Way of NW CT, NW Community Bank. He is a member of the Rotary Club.
Timothy M. and Susan B. Cook own and manage the Cook Funeral Home in Torrington. Together, they have been corporate sponsors of the United Way and past cochairs for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The couple serve on the Warner Theatre Advisory Council and are Corporate Partners for the Northwest Chamber of Commerce. Tim Cook has served as president of the Rotary Club and of Friends of Hospice. Susan Cook is a member of the board of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary and a past member of Altrusa International. Susan Cook also is a eucharistic minister for St. John Paul the Great Parish and on the board of St. John Paul the Great Academy.
