New season to feature races, car festival

LAKEVILLE — Lime Rock Park, the historic motorsports and entertainment destination located in the hills of Northwest Connecticut, is gearing up for an impressive 2020 season, including five major events.
New in 2020 will be the firstever Touring Car Festival, featuring TC America and Pirelli GT4 America SprintX, both managed by SRO Motorsports America.This exciting, twoday event will kick off Lime Rock’s season with practice and qualifying held on Friday, May 8, and racing on Saturday, May 9.
TC America’s popular touring car classes — TCR, TC and TCA — offer some of the best racing in the country with action throughout two 40minute sprint races. Equally exciting, the Pirelli GT4 America
SprintX series features onehour races with two drivers per car and a mandatory driver change during Pit stops.
“We’re pleased to add this new event to next year’s schedule,” said Skip Barber, Lime Rock Park President. “Both TC America and Pirelli GT4 America bring a highlevel of excitement and close racing action.”
Lime Rock’s 2020 Season will continue on May 2225 with the Memorial Day Classic featuring the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli with Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) and International GT. The traditional holiday weekend will also include the annual Royal’s Garage Sunday Car Show and a FarmToTrack Picnic, both held on Sunday, May 24.
On June 12 and 13, Lime Rock hosts the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)
New England Regionals with classes for every kind of race car imaginable, from virtually stock sedans and sports cars to formula cars of every type.
Lime Rock’s biggest race of the year, the IMSA Northeast Grand Prix, will be held on July 1718 with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. This fanfavorite weekend features the fastest GT cars in the country with the GTLM and GTD classes racing simultaneously in the two hour and 40minute WeatherTech SportsCar race.
Rounding out the season will be the 38th annual Historic Festival held over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 37. Along with 36 races held over three days, the event features the Sunday in the Park Concours and Gathering of the Marques with more than 800 cars on display around the track. This year’s Festival is poised to be larger than ever with the addition of race cars from Vintage Racer Group (VRG) as well as the Vintage Sports Car Club of America (VSCCA).
