KEEP AN EYE ON

Scorers aplenty: With reigning national player of the year Sabrina Ionescu leading the way, Oregon boasts the nation’s most productive offense. The Ducks are tops in scoring (86.6) and second in field-goal percentage (50.5).

Ionescu had 24 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds in a 101-53 rout of Colorado on Saturday. The senior point guard has 23 career triple-doubles, more than any player (men’s or women’s) in NCAA history.

“There are kids who play basketball and there are basketball players,” UConn coach Geno Auriemma said Sunday. “She’s a basketball player through and through. She’s a tough kid. When you rebound as much as she does, that says something.”

For the season, Ionescu is averaging 17.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.6 assists. Satou Sabally (16.5) and Ruthy Hebard (16.2) are also scoring in double figures.

Elliott returns: Jamelle Elliott is back for her second stint as an assistant at UConn. She’s filling in for Jasmine Lister, who is on personal leave.

“It’s unfortunate that that’s the scenario, but having her here made it easy for us to transition into that,” Auriemma said of Elliott, who was previously on staff from 1997-2009.

“Believe me, it’s not something that Jamelle wants to do, wanted to do, campaigned to do. As a matter of fact, she avoided me every chance she got even thinking I might ask her to do it. I think she’s doing it as a favor.”

Lister has missed the last eight games. A school spokesperson said recently that Lister wasn’t feeling well, but did not elaborate on her status.

Under the weather: Sophomore Christyn Williams has the flu and did not practice during the portion open to the media Sunday. However, she is expected to play against Oregon.

“She’s been told to stay away, but now she’s finally allowed to be around people,” Auriemma said.

History at a glance: UConn has won all three meetings, most recently a 90-52 victory in the 2017 Elite Eight in Bridgeport. The teams will also play in 2021-22 in Oregon.
