FESTIVAL CANCELED: Taste of Harwinton, the fourth annual food truck festival set for May 30-31 and sponsored by the Harwinton Lions and Harwinton Agricultural Association, has been canceled. It will return in 2021. “We are sorry for so many reasons, but the safety of all participants, from attendees to vendors, performers and volunteers, is very important to us,” club members said. FOOD DRIVE: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington, is sponsoring a Contactless Drive-Thru Food Drive to benefit clients of Friendly Hands Food Bank, 10 a.m to noon May 9 in the church parking lot. Food can be placed in your trunk or back seat; someone wearing a mask and gloves will retrieve it and add it to other donations. Members are encouraging donations of fresh/frozen meat, dairy products, vegetables and fruit of any kind. Non-perishables, paper products and pet food are also welcome, as are gifts of money. Rain or shine. Enter through the Charles Street driveway (across from Torringford School) and exit on Torringford West Street. VIRTUAL CAMP OPEN HOUSE: Camp Moe is holding an open house online May 9 on the camp’s Facebook page and on campmoe.org.
