Bingo for Education canceled; donations will aid students
FALLS VILLAGE — The Falls Village Scholarship Association regretfully announces the cancellation of the Bingo for Education Night, which is held each May.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, it is not possible to hold the event at the Kellogg School. The association anticipates hosting the event again in May 2021.
Without the ability to host Bingo for Education, the association’s main fundraiser, this year, funds are at their loweStreet Recognizing that this year’s high school seniors still need support in their future endeavors, especially with families experiencing additional hardships due to the virus outbreak, the Scholarship Association will still be awarding scholarships this June.
This year’s graduating class presents a potentially larger than usual pool of applicants. Donations in any amount to help meet the shortfall and provide support for this year’s applicants can be made online at fallsvillagescholarships.org. Donations may also be mailed to FVSA, P.O. Box 292, Falls Village, CT 06031.
“The Falls Village Class of 2020 has worked as hard as every other class,” said Cheryl Paulsen, co-chairwoman of the Falls Village Scholarship Association, in a statement. “Their aspirations are just as great as those of previous students. This year, the community’s support is more important than ever when it comes to the students’ futures.”
The scholarship application for graduating high school seniors who reside in Falls Village and plan to further their education at a technical school, community or four-year college or university in the fall of 2020 will be available through the association’s website until June 3.
