Walk a Mile in Her Shoes goes virtual
TORRINGTON – Susan B. Anthony Project’s 3rd annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser will be a virtual event this year, running from May 11-31.
The walk, originally scheduled for May 17 on the Litchfield Green, has been postponed and the walk has been moved to an online platform because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Registration for the walk will begin May 11 at www.sbaproject.org/ walkamile. Participants are encouraged to register by May 16. The official walk kick-off and opening ceremony will be held May 17, and will be followed by fundraising activities and challenges, culminating with a finish line ceremony May 31.
According to SBAP, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international men’s march where men and boys lead the way on the road to end sexual and domestic violence by literally walking a mile in women’s high heeled shoes — often red ones. Created by men, the Walk gives participants the opportunity to get their communities talking about a difficult subject while increasing awareness of the problem, offering opportunities for healing, and demonstrating men’s willingness to walk with women and children as allies, advocates and survivors. Frank Baird created Walk a Mile in Her Shoes in 2001. Learn more at www.walkamileinhershoes.org .
Susan B. Anthony Project’s 3rd Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is sponsored by Agency Sponsor Webster Bank, and by Event Sponsors A Healing
Trail Wellness Center; The Beauty Mark Tattooing; Charlotte Hungerford Hospital; Center Subaru; Peter Grubstein and Rosemary Ripley; King, King, and Associates CPAs; National Iron Bank; O&G Industries; Torrington Savings Bank; and Twenty2 Wallpaper.
