Wisdom House open for meetings, retreats

LITCHFIELD — Wisdom House Spiritual Retreat and Conference Center, 229 Litchfield Road, has re-opened to welcome individual­s and groups for meetings and retreats. The facility is following CDC guidelines for social distancing, cleaning and signage.

“We are currently one of the few spiritual retreat and conference meeting center in the region that is open for meetings and overnight retreats,” said Deborah Kelly, executive director, in a statement. “We are operating at 50 percent occupancy per Phase 2 of the State of Connecticu­t’s reopening guidelines.”

Wisdom House booking meetings by the hour, by the day, plus overnight conference­s and retreats for groups and individual­s seeking an overnight retreat. “We are able to serve meals however not buffet style,” Kelly said. “Currently, we are offering a variety of short day programs 6090 min, including Tai Chi, fitness, and music. Our pool is also open for our guests.

“Wisdom House hosts meetings, conference­s, and retreats for a variety of nonprofit and for-profit organizati­ons and groups that support and foster growth in spirituali­ty, education, the arts, and ecology. We welcome over 500 groups annually, many returning year after year. We can accommodat­e groups from 10 to 150, including meals and overnight lodging. Our campus spans 70 acres of meadows, woods, and brooks, and our indoor and outdoor sanctuary areas encourage meditation, prayer and creative team building,” Kelly said.

According to its website, Wisdom House, a ministry of the Daughters of Wisdom, is an interfaith retreat and conference center presenting programs that celebrate the sacred in everyday life, the arts and ecology, and offer day-long and overnight food and lodging hospitalit­y to academic, nonprofit, and business organizati­ons throughout each year.

The Daughters of Wisdom originated in 18th Century France and founded the U.S. Province in 1949 with the purchase of the former Spruce Brook Farm in East Litchfield that was originally used as a Convent and Novitiate.
