Lime Rock Park postpones Grand Prix to 2021

-

LAKEVILLE — The International Motor Sports Association recently announced a realignment to upcoming dates and venues on its 2020 schedule, which includes shifting the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park to the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL as part of the NASCAR event weekend, Oct. 9-10. The event had previously been moved from its traditional July date and today’s realignments by IMSA were also necessary in response to ongoing logistical challenges associated with COVID-19, according to a statement.

In addition, IMSA announced the shifting of the Labor Day Weekend six-hour race from Watkins Glen International to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Sept. 3-6, according to the statement.

“We deeply regret not hosting the IMSA Northeast Grand Prix this year, but clearly understand the obstacles IMSA was presented with,” said Lime Rock Park President Skip Barber. “IMSA racing has long been a tradition at Lime Rock Park, and we know IMSA has exhausted every opportunity to conduct the event this year. The good news is that IMSA remains unwavering in their commitment to return in 2021 and beyond.”

Fans who have previously purchased tickets for the Northeast Grand Prix event will receive a communication regarding their options and next steps in the coming days.

Following its Historic Festival event, the park will close out the season with the Trans Am SpeedTour Classic on Oct. 16-18.
