The man of many masks

It’s no wonder he resisted wearing a mask. It conflicted with the wide array he has in his collection. You name the occasion and he probably has a mask.

Here’s a man who wants to be anyone but himself. Looking in the mirror frightens him. One day he’s a businessman, another he’s general in the army.

Of course, his medical degree is a secret. His diagnosis of COVID-19 is legendary. His prescription for taking Clorox and Lysol will go down in the medical archives as unparalleled. Hardly anyone can surpass his ability as an environmentalist. As a scholar, his grades were so impressive that he’s resisted publicizing them. As a diplomat, he’s the envy of the world. Our friends are becoming enemies. And are enemies friends.

His search for recognition is insatiable It doesn’t matter whether it’s negative or positive. Do what it takes to get on page 1, not the back page.

Bullying helps with this façade. In most cases, it gives a false impression of strength, knowledge and authority. Of course, lying is a necessary tool to pull all of this off. A little bit of showmanship doesn’t hurt.

If you get in his way, he’ll run right over you, if you let him. Whoever gets hurt is irrelevant.

This make-believe stuff screams out there’s a coward in our midst. A desperate need to be someone or something he’s not. He’ll do everything beyond reason not to be found out.

You can understand why the Putins of the world are his role models. Challenging is not looked upon favorably.

The challenge for Mr. Trump is being found out. Alternative Facts by any other name are still lies. And people are questioning things they were accepting before.

As it gets closer to November, the biggest monkey on Trump’s back is getting more and more uncomfortable.

As Trump squirms, he’s getting more and more desperate.
