Gallery opens art storage facility

KENT — William Morrison, owner of the Morrison Gallery, has opened an ultra modern art storage facility at 60 North Main St.

“The new Morrison Art Storage Facility is a 25,000 square foot, two-story, temperature, humidity and climate-controlled building,” according to a statement. “It is part of an art services community that accommodates all possible needs of collectors, artists and museums. MASF services include general and private storage rooms, white-glove transportation service by professional art handlers, 24/7 loading dock hours and private viewing rooms. The family owned and operated MASF is part of a complex constructed in the past year that will soon include the Morrison Gallery, which re-opens late Spring 2021, in a new breezeway connected building fronting on Kent’s Main Street, which is also Route 7. In addition to art works the facility will store precious antiques, jewelry, family heirlooms, furniture and other valuables.”

“We appreciate the wonderful support the Morrison Gallery has received over the past 20 years, and we look forward now to assisting art lovers to meet the growing need for a first-class storage facility,” said Morrison. “One of our advantages is that MASF is not corporate-run, and thus we can provide the highest personal service in a safe facility that was constructed specifically for art storage space and is not a converted factory building. Whether you are a collector or an artist, you will have your work secured correctly in a protected and climate-controlled, computer-monitored environment, at fair and competitive prices.”

“Our art transportation shippers are available with state-ofthe-art climate controls in security vehicles, and our loading dock is on call 24 hours a day, “Morrison said. “We can transport art anywhere in the world in safe customdesigned crates that meet the highest safety and storage requirements. As a convenience to artists, the facility will also provide access to art fairs and other venues. We can also create custom-designed private spaces to accommodate any special required needs for our clients.”

Cook endorsed by law enforcement agencies

TORRINGTON — Police unions and other law enforcement organizations from around the state are supporting Michelle Cook for State Representative of the 65th Assembly District in Torrington, according to a statement.

“I am honored to have earned the support of several law enforcement organizations and police unions from around the state,” said Cook. “Year after year I have championed policy that promotes public safety and provides our local and state police forces with the resources necessary to protect the places they serve. I will continue to work with law enforcement and all of our residents to strengthen our communities and keep everyone safe.”

Endorsements for Cook include the Police Officers Association of Connecticut; the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police; Council #4, American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO which encompasses several law enforcement unions; Connecticut State Police Union and the Connecticut Alliance of City Police

“This endorsement comes as a result of her continued support for public safety and the issues our Union has faced in the past,” said John Castiline, president of the Connecticut State Police Union, in the union’s endorsement letter. “Together, we can make the State of Connecticut a safer place for all who live in, visit, or travel through our great State.”

Witkos endorsed by independent business group

CANTON — State Sen. Kevin Witkos (R-Canton) recently announced he has been endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Businesses Connecticut PAC.

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Businesses Connecticut PAC. Locally owned, independent businesses are the backbone of our state and local economies. Knowing how important independent businesses are is just one of the reasons I began showcasing businesses in my Local Business Spotlight tour which highlighted various independent businesses throughout the district. I have continuously fought against tax increases and onerous legislative proposals that would negatively impact small businesses and I will continue to advocate for legislation that supports their continued growth and success,” said Witkos.
