Along with Halloween comes the colder weather. I am sure the music community will find ways to keep playing; and remember, there are always online options.

Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez and special guest James Montgomery will be rockin’ Bridge Street Live for the “Halloween maskcure-aid drive-in concert” Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Advance tickets advised at https://41bridgestreet.com/ calendar/index.php?id=900. The rain date is Nov. 1. No walk-ups, everyone must be in a vehicle. A food truck and bar car will be on site. Costumes are welcome and for safety, masks are required.

The Beehive Queen and The Montez Boys (Cliff Goodwin, Lorne Entress, Michael Colbath) will celebrate Halloween afternoon with their special guest James Montgomery, returning to this riverside concert venue for a special and safe outdoor concert. Ohlman and Montgomery’s duo shows are legendary for their fiery, bluesy passion and it’s Halloween, so mask up and costume up, a portion of every ticket goes to charity. Okay everyone, it is time to get spooky, grab a big bowl of candy and join The Cobalt Rhythm Kings on Facebook Halloween Night for an evening of spooky blues, beamed right at you live from CT Folk’s lair in the

Whitneyville Cultural Commons at 8:30 p.m. It’s a change of pace for CT Folk and a rare chance to see New Haven’s long-running Cobalt crew, up close and personal for only the second time since March.

While playing indoors for people is still not allowed by the state’s COVID-19 rules, they’re going to be doing a multiple-camera live shoot for the webcast. You’ll be able to find the show at: https://www.facebook.com/ ctfolk/live

Another Halloween concert is being held along the river at Pomona Pete’s, Saturday, at 2 p.m., when Lori and The Legends take the stage. If nature doesn’t cooperate, they will be able to keep the heat on. You can use the indoor dining room or sit outside. They also have riverside tables.

Friday, The Red Hots is at Notch8. The talented group makes for a fine show. And they are very excited to have been invited to play a featured set with Meteor Headd at Notch8. Two amazing bands will be on the patio. Also on Friday, Brian Dolzani with a full band is at Nod Hill Brewery at 5:30 p.m., and The Wall Street Theater, outside in the parking lot, hosts Terrapin. In other movie news, Wendell Pierce has officially got the blues. The actor, known for his performances in The Wire and Treme, announced he is portraying legendary artist B.B. King in a new film. “We are official. Preparation has begun on a film where I will be honored to play the great, BB King. Humbled,” Pierce tweeted.

Fans are already praising the casting, citing the duo’s resemblance and the actor’s acclaimed body of work. “The Thrill Is On,” is after a song name King is famous for. The movie is a drama centered on the friendship between King and young musician Michael Zanetis, according to IMDb, The script is being written by Zanetis and Melora Donoghue. Steve Sigel, Executive Director of the Garde Arts Center sent a letter explaining help the State of Connecticut is offering. Every day that the Garde Arts Center is unable to open safely to the public depletes resources for our eventual COVID-19 recovery and reopening. Now to help the Garde, the State of Connecticut will match 50 percent of any individual, business, or foundation gift to the Garde Arts Center received by Nov. 1, 2020.

If you consider making a meaningful gift, go online at SAVE THE GARDE or call Jeanne at 860-961-4106 for personal assistance or at jsigel@gardearts.org. If received by November 1, the State will match your taxdeductible gift by 50 percent.

While we’ve already got our masks on, let’s celebrate Halloween in Mississippi Hambone style. Check out the Hambone Festival page and the Facebook event page for the downtown Clarksdale’s schedule at Stan’s Hambone Art Gallery.
