Estate seller joins forces with Habitat for Humanity

-

DANBURY — Blue Bird Estate Sales in Ridgefield is donating all of its post-sale items to Housatonic Habitat’s Danbury ReStore, it was jointly announced by Blue Bird’s owner, Dana Bucci, and Fran Normann, executive director of Housatonic Habitat for Humanity.

“Working with Habitat is a feel good all-around decision,” Bucci said. “Usually, when I suggest to a client at the end of an estate sale that the unsold items be donated to Habitat to sell at their ReStore, the answer is always a resounding yes. Clients are thrilled to see their gently used furniture find a home where it is sold to benefit other families.”

Another advantage, Bucci said, is that often after a sale she gets a call from a customer regretting not purchasing that armoire or game table and asking if it is still available. “Now I can direct them to the ReStore for a secondchance purchase. And usually they end up buying more than one item, because it is such a fun place to shop,” she said.

Normann said, “Housatonic ReStore is a treasure hunt every day, thanks to its partnership with businesses like Blue Bird. We are truly a marketplace filled with items from high-end retailers, local specialty businesses, individuals, artisans and one-ofa-kind- donors like Blue Bird.

Housatonic Habitat’s ReStore is at 51 Austin St., Danbury. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
