Truth about Barrett

-

Recently I read a letter from a reader about newly appointed U.S. Supreme Court Justice Barrett for being a member of “People of Praise,” POP. She asserts it is a “right wing sect.” First, what is the credible evidence that Barrett is a member of POP? Also if she is, that is freedom of religion; that is a U.S. Constitutional right.

Second, she mentioned Adrian Reimers as quoting what a teaching of POP was “wife as a good member of the community, has a prima facie obligation to obey her husband as the bearer of God’s will.” One sometimes conveniently takes things out of context to present a defected point that supports another defected point.

This writer is extremely inaccurate and exhibits the continuous false narrative of people against Barrett. An attack of Barrett also came from the bias, double standard New York Times about Barrett and POP. Would one expect any else from the NY Times?

POP is a charismatic Christian community with a goal to assure no person is in need. Furthermore that all people have a unity to help each other. This organization is comprised of Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Methodists, Pentecostals, Presbyterians and many other denominational and nondenominational Christians.

Adrian Reimers wrote “Hell and the Mercy of God ( June, 2017) and along with Barrett is a professor at Notre Dame of philosophy. He speaks of the nature of goodness and evil.

This writer should make herself familiar with the great community work, numerous creation of schools for minority students and the overwhelming assistance they provide to many communities and the range of religions they encompass.

Such letters to the editor misrepresent essence of teachings and philosophy. It also demonstrates the continuous false attacks on numerous candidates to our U.S. Supreme Court. need I refer to Justices Thomas, Kavanaugh, Bork and Gorsuch.
