FRIENDS BOOK SALE: The Scoville Memorial Library’s Friends of The Library Book Sale and donation collection will be held Nov. 7 and Nov. 21, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Space limited, masks required. LEAF, WASTE PICKUP: Leaf and yard waste pickup for Torrington residents starts Nov. 9 and ends Dec. 4, weather permitting. Leaves and yard waste, such as grass clippings, in biodegradable paper bags, should be placed curbside on garbage pickup day. Don’t mix with garbage. Do not call to schedule pickup.

HARWINTON VETERANS DAY: The Harwinton American Legion Post 137 will conduct a Veterans Day ceremony on Veterans Day, 11 a.m. on the town greet, Route 4 and South Road. Harwinton veterans that passed away over the past year will be honored at the ceremony. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department firehouse, 158 Burlington Road/Route 4.
