PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Will Levis, Penn State: The sophomore from Madison and former Xavier High star didn’t have a passing attempt in the first three games of the season but that changed when starting quarterback Sean Clifford had two turnovers that resulted in winless Penn State going down by 21 points in the second quarter Saturday. Levis came in and threw for 219 yards and rushed for 61 more in the 30-23 loss to Nebraska. His passing yardage total nearly matched his numbers from his first eight career games. He led Penn State on a season-best three consecutive scoring drives and it could have been four if not for a missed field goal.

REMEMBER ME?

East Haven’s Nico Ragaini has scored three touchdowns in 20 career games at Iowa and two of them have come against Minnesota.

The two-time New Haven Register Male Athlete of the Year turned his first and only rushing attempt of the season into a 1-yard touchdown to open the scoring in a 35-7 win over Minnesota. Ragaini also had a 10-yard reception in the win.

Greenwich’s Scooter Harrington scored his first career touchdown at Stanford as he had a 1-yard TD reception with 2:34 left to pull the Cardinal within five points in a 35-32 loss to Colorado. He had his first game with multiple receptions as he had 18 yards on two catches.

Darien’s Mitchell Pryor had 48 yards rushing, including a 2-yard TD, in Vanderbilt’s 38-35 loss to Kentucky. It was his second career touchdown for the Commodores but first against an SEC team.

Hamden’s CJ Lewis continued his impressive junior season at Boston College with 60 yards on three receptions in a 45-31 loss to Notre Dame.

COYLE DEBUTS AT PURDUE

Injury delayed former UConn star Tyler Coyle‘ s lone season at Purdue from getting underway. The linebacker from Windsor, who had 260 tackles in three seasons playing safety for the Huskies, had one tackle in Purdue’s 27-20 loss to Northwestern.

Hamden’s C.J. Holmes recorded his first three tackles of 2020 in Kent State’s 62-24 win over Bowling Green. Teams have a 15-3 record in games that Holmes has appeared in including stops at Notre Dame and Penn State.
