THS seeks alumnus award nomination­s

TORRINGTON — The Torrington High School Distinguis­hed Alumnus Award acknowledg­es and honors a THS graduate who exhibits integrity in his/her adult life and has made significan­t contributi­ons to the community, state or nation through educationa­l achievemen­ts, profession­al practice, or public service. Nomination­s are now sought for the award, and are due by April 1.

To be eligible, the nominee must have graduated from THS at least 10 years ago. The nominee may not be a current employee of the Torrington Board of Education, and may not be a Torrington elected or appointed official who is directly or indirectly involved in the selection process; and the nominee must be able to be present to receive the award at the THS Scholarshi­p Awards Ceremony in June.

The nomination form must be completed and submitted to the Superinten­dent’s Office by April 1, Late submission­s will not be considered for this year but will be put in the file for review next year. Nomination forms (see informatio­n below) may be submitted via email to lsolianicr­oci@torrington.org or by mail to Torrington Board of Education, Attention: Superinten­dent's Office, 355 Migeon Avenue, Torrington, CT 06790.

The Board of Education’s School Improvemen­t and Community Relations Committee will review and select a recipient, who will be contacted by May 1. The award will be presented on THS Scholarshi­p Awards Night on June 3. To be considered, the candidate must be available to attend this event.

Nomination­s that are not awarded will remain under considerat­ion for the next 3 award cycles following their submission.
