KEEP AN EYE ON

On the road again: Wednesday is the second of five straight road games for UConn, matching the longest stretch in program history (1980). The 135-mile trip is also the team’s shortest of the season.

The Huskies are 6-1 away from home. “Generally good road teams are pretty mature, they know what they have to do, they know how to prepare, they know how to travel, they know what the hotel deal is, they know all that, and they prepare accordingly,” UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. “They understand that the other team is not going to just roll over because Connecticut’s in town. So they take it serious.

“The best road teams are the ones that treat every game like it’s a game against the No. 1 team in the country.” History lesson: UConn is 42-17 all-time against St. John’s, including a 94-62 victory in Storrs on Feb. 3. Christyn Williams, the Huskies’ second-leading scorer, missed that game with a sprained ankle, but freshmen Paige Bueckers (32 points) and Aaliyah Edwards (22 points, nine rebounds) had big performances in her absence.

Steering the way: As goes Leilani Correa, so goes St. John’s. The sophomore guard is third in the Big East in scoring (20.9) behind Villanova’s Maddie Siegrist and Bueckers and 28th in the nation. She had 33 points in the last meeting with UConn.

Senior Qadashah Hoppie, the conference’s active leading scorer, is out for the season with a shoulder injury.
