Jazz camp sessions open for enrollment

-

GOSHEN — Litchfield Jazz Camp welcomes student beginners to advanced players, ages 13 through adults to an interactive virtual enrichment program. Classes run on Saturdays, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. starting April 10. Students can focus on Jazz Theory or take Master Classes and Special Interest Topics classes, or they can choose to do both.

Instructors for Litchfield Jazz Camp’s Virtual Spring Semester are experienced jazz performer/ educators with long affiliations with the camp and solid careers, and includes bassist Luques Curtis and pianist Jen Allen, who will conduct master classes for instrumentalists and vocalists.

Curtis performs worldwide with pianists Eddie Palmieri, Orrin Evans, and Christian Sands, drummer Ralph Peterson, vibraphonist Stefon Harris and others. He co-owns the Truth Revolutions Records. Jen Allen is a performer, author, and educator who teaches at both Trinity and Bennington College. Saxophonist Kris Allen will teach Tips and Tricks for Ear Training. Kris, the Lyell B. Clay Artist-in- Residence at Williams College, leads his own groups and has served as a sideman for Illinois Jacquet, Gerald Wilson, Andy Gonzales, Jimmy Greene, Helen Sung, Winard Harper and many more. Baritone saxophonist Andrew Hadro is our resident historian. His informative and amusing classes include The Jazz Behind Pop and Pop Culture, How the Big Band Became the Big Band and Jazz and Video Game Music with special guest Patrick Bartley.

Bartley, a young saxophonist who is already making waves, is a composer and bandleader seen on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and an HBO special with Wynton Marsalis. He will help Andrew show you how jazz musicians put a jazzy spin on video game sound tracks.

The cost of the Litchfield Jazz Camp Virtual Spring Semester is $195 for either Theory or Master Classes/Special Interest Topics or $350 for both tracks. Financial assistance scholarships are available. For financial aid information, contact Tegan Ryan at tegan@litchfieldjazzfest.com.
