‘Takeout Tuesdays’ continues in March
TORRINGTON — St. John Paul the Great Academy in Torrington is continuing its partnerships with local eateries on a fundraising campaign they call “Takeout Tuesdays” in March.
Each week on Tuesdays and one Wednesday, a different local restaurant will donate a portion of proceeds from takeout orders made between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to the academy, a Catholic elementary school that enrolls more than 140 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
Participating restaurants in March include:
March 2: Noujaim’s Mediterranean Bistro, 436 Main St., Winsted, 860-379-0559, noujaimsbistro.com;
March 10 (Wednesday): Edison Grill, 178 Birge Park Rd., Harwinton, 860-4851401, edisongrill.com;
March 16: Anthony’s, 258 Main St., Torrington, 860489-6656, anthonystorrington.com;
March 23: Da Capo Ristorante Italiano, 625 Torrington Rd., Litchfield, 860-4826246, dacapolitchfield.com; and
March 30: Pizza Palace, 7 Griswold St., Torrington, 860-482-3006, facebook.com/pizzapalacect.
“We began this partnership in November and plan to feature a restaurant a week throughout the school year and beyond,” said Gina Scherbner, a board member and organizer of the effort. “In this time more than any other, our restaurants need our support,” Scherbner said. “Our students, families, volunteers and the community can help support the effort by enjoying a great meal and sharing their experience with their friends and families.”
