COVID-19-related visitor restrictions eased
Charlotte Hungerford Hospital makes change
TORRINGTON — Charlotte Hungerford Hospital has updated its visitor policy and is welcoming visitors with expanded hours effective immediately, both on the inpatient floors, ICU and Emergency Department and the Hartford HealthCare HealthCenter Emergency Department at 80 South Main St. in Winsted, according to a statement.
“In addition to providing world-class medical care, we know that healing requires the unwavering support of loved ones at the bedside. We are so pleased to be welcoming visitors back who play such a pivotal role in the recovery process,” said Teresa Fuller, MSN, RN, CPXP, Hartford HealthCare Regional Vice President Patient Care Services.
Visitors are allowed in the hospital’s inpatient areas on floors 4, 5, 6 and ICU, from noon to 8 p.m. daily, including weekends. Visitors to the Emergency Department in Torrington are allowed anytime, and to the Winsted Emergency Department from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.
For the Maternity Floor 3, one support person is allowed for birth to transition home visits.
For COVID positive patients, special exceptions may be made at the discretion of clinical leadership, according to the statement.
Visitors are not allowed in the 7th floor Behavioral Health Unit. Limited clinical exceptions may be made per the medical provider, officials said.
Masks and social distancing are still required on hospital grounds. “For everyone’s continued safety, visitation in some areas and double occupancy rooms will be monitored and adjusted or limited as needed at the discretion of the clinical staff. Visitors may experience brief wait times in the lobby or cafeteria,” according to the statement.
All visitors are asked to use the main entrance from noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon-3 p.m. Saturdays, and from 3-8 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays and noon-8 p.m. Sundays in the Emergency Department.
As usual, all visitors receive a health screening and temperature check. Individuals are asked not to visit the hospital if they are ill or have symptoms of cold or flu. Any visitor/ escort who has traveled to one of the Connecticut travel advisory listed states will not be permitted to stay on the grounds, according to the statement.
