The Register Citizen (Torrington, CT)
It’s time to renew!
I still use Franklin Covey as a reference, because their reminders are inspiring and useful.
“Turn over a new leaf and a new page each day…renew and refresh the aspects of your life.”
The suggestions focus on these areas: professional, financial, social, mental and spiritual. You are encouraged to participate in these Chamber initiatives, because your life will be reinvigorated as never before.
We are following the CDC guidelines and conducting a number of hybrid meetings for your convenience and safety.
Professional: Rearrange your calendar for the monthly meeting of the Manufacturing Coalition on the first Friday of each month with a special Workforce generated Manufacturing Event this Wednesday, Sept. 15 at American Mural Project on Whiting Street, Winsted from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; the Health Council meeting on the third Wednesday of the month, Sept. 15 for a discussion on the employment needs of our many healthcare providers in this area; the Insurance Committee on the third Tuesday, Sept. 21 to hear about the Chamber Insurance Trust; Government Relations on the second Thursday to receive highlights from our legislative delegation and lobbyist and the Small Business Council on the first Tuesday held this week with emphasis on the ways to attract new employees.
Financial: Refurbish your minds by taking advantage of a valuable and informative Webinar on Thursday, Sept. 16, 9-10 a.m. presented by Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP. Since it is an interesting and
challenging time for all of us, this will give you the opportunity to review the legal issues surrounding the pandemic. Please join us for this important session.
Social: Recreate a whole new group of customers and friends by attending the Chamber initiatives that encourage you to make new friends and build a stronger customer base. Join us on Sept. 14 at Five Points Center for the Arts on University Drive at 5 p.m. for an exciting Business After Hours. You will be pleasantly surprised to see this remarkable facility.
Mental: Remodel your leadership role by registering yourself or a colleague for Leadership NW, sponsored by Torrington Savings Bank. This is a valuable program that includes nine sessions on a variety of topics designed to give you increased leadership, organizational and problemsolving skills as well as access to a network of community leaders and resources. Orientation is in October to give you time to consider this excellent program.
Spiritual: Replenish your mind, body and soul by spending Oct. 1 with us at the WOW! Forum, Mindfulness Matters, in the Carole & Ray Neag Performing Arts Center of The Warner Theatre. You will be encouraged to dream big and learn from an amazing group of speakers eager to share their experiences and talents.
I hope I have encouraged you to turn over a new leaf by joining us for all of the above and the many other initiatives that you can find on our website. WOW! It’s time to renew and refresh!
