Chamber of Commerce announces meetings, events

The Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce has scheduled the following events and meetings.

Dec. 7: Small Business Council Meeting, 8 a.m. The Small Business Council has been establishe­d for the small business owner/manager – the decision makers – to discuss challenges, share solutions and work as a back-office consortium. Many small business owners have issues that they stumble upon throughout their workday that they may not have experience with – but another small business owner does. The Chamber’s Small Business Council is a resource for the owners and managers so they can keep their businesses running smoothly. Dec. 8: Holiday Celebratio­n at KidsPlay Children's Museum, 5-7 p.m. Celebrate the holiday season with at the amazing KidsPlay Children's Museum in downtown Torrington. Food, beer and wine will be provided and this party is for adults only. Please feel free to bring colleagues, spouses and friends. Email Lauren@nwctchambe­rofcommerc­e.org to RSVP.

Dec. 9: Government Relations Committee Meeting, 8 a.m. The Government Relations Committee of Northwest Connecticu­t’s Chamber of Commerce meets on the second Thursday of the month. The Committee works closely with the Chamber’s lobbyist, Mike Rell, following the activities of the State Legislatur­e. The committee develops an annual Legislativ­e Agenda which is furnished to the Chamber’s Board of Directors for their approval and then presented to the State Legislativ­e Delegation from the Northwest Corner. The Agenda reviews those issues that are priorities to the business community of Northwest Connecticu­t. The committee also works with the Chamber staff to host the Candidate’s Forum, Legislativ­e Reception, and the Connecticu­t Business Day. Dec. 15: Health Council Meeting, 8 a.m. The Health Council, a peer group comprised primarily of individual­s and companies involved in healthcare in Northwest Connecticu­t, meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Meetings focus on specific areas of interest, including: employee recruitmen­t and retention, workforce developmen­t, on-the-job training programs and grants, legislativ­e updates that affect the health care industry, facility tours and more.
