Penguin Plunges scheduled around Connecticu­t

HAMDEN — Special Olympics Connecticu­t has announced dates for its upcoming Penguin Plunges, and invites all to register for a Penguin Plunge, including the new Ridgefield Penguin Plunge, at soct.org.

Participan­ts in the Plunge, at all locations, will jump into the chilly waters of a lake or Long Island Sound to support the organizati­on's year-round sports, health and fitness programs for athletes around the state and help create communitie­s that accept and include people of all abilities.

The Ridgefield Penguin Plunge is hosted by members of the Ridgefield Police Department and will be held at Martin Park Beach, 19 Great Pond Road, Ridgefield, Dec. 19. Check-in will begin at 11 a.m. and the Plunge will be held at noon.
