Registrati­on deadline near for Vocal Showcase

TORRINGTON — The Torrington Parks and Recreation Department is holding the 2022 Northwest Vocal Showcase for the 16th year. The contest is open to anyone age 15 and up.

Registrati­on forms, which are due by May 27, are now available at the Parks and Recreation Department, 153 South Main St. Registrati­on forms can also be downloaded at https://torrington­ct.myrec.com.

Auditions, set for 3 p.m. June 4 at Coe Memorial Park, will consist of each participan­t singing a cappella.

The first semifinal round will be held June 18 followed by a second semifinal round July 15. Semifinals will be held at Coe Memorial Park Civic Center beginning at 7 p.m. The talent pool will be narrowed down during the semifinal rounds.

The finals will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Warner Theatre. At the finals, contestant­s will perform with the Opening Night Band, and must be available to practice with the band before the event.

The Torrington Parks & Recreation Department is looking for support from local businesses and organizati­ons to help offset the costs of the contest.

“Without the assistance of local businesses and organizati­ons, an event of this magnitude would not be possible,” according to a statement.
