Registration deadline near for Vocal Showcase
TORRINGTON — The Torrington Parks and Recreation Department is holding the 2022 Northwest Vocal Showcase for the 16th year. The contest is open to anyone age 15 and up.
Registration forms, which are due by May 27, are now available at the Parks and Recreation Department, 153 South Main St. Registration forms can also be downloaded at https://torringtonct.myrec.com.
Auditions, set for 3 p.m. June 4 at Coe Memorial Park, will consist of each participant singing a cappella.
The first semifinal round will be held June 18 followed by a second semifinal round July 15. Semifinals will be held at Coe Memorial Park Civic Center beginning at 7 p.m. The talent pool will be narrowed down during the semifinal rounds.
The finals will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Warner Theatre. At the finals, contestants will perform with the Opening Night Band, and must be available to practice with the band before the event.
The Torrington Parks & Recreation Department is looking for support from local businesses and organizations to help offset the costs of the contest.
“Without the assistance of local businesses and organizations, an event of this magnitude would not be possible,” according to a statement.
