Tickets available for Common Ground’s 2nd show

WASHINGTON — Tickets are available for Common Ground with Jane Whitney’s second episode of the season on June 5, “Game Over: Politics and Sports” with panelists Dave Zirin, sports editor, The Nation; Brandi Chastain, Olympic gold medalist, world champion and ambassador of women’s sports; Muffet McGraw, former head women’s basketball coach, University of Notre Dame; and Jerry Brewer, sports columnist for the Washington Post.

“Sports, for most Americans, were the sacrosanct refuge where we went to get away from it all, to escape the tension and drama and conflict that colors daily life,” according to a statement. “But now many of our most divisive debates about class, race, religion, sex and the raw quest for political power are played out on the field. In Common Ground with Jane Whitney’s second show of the season, a bevy of headline grabbing athletes and sports authoritie­s will examine Americans’ perception of the appropriat­e social role of sports and why we increasing­ly demand that athletes become warrior avatars for our cultural civil wars.”

Tickets are $25 Virtual Access, $45 General In Person Admission, and $250 Premium In Person Admission, which includes cocktail reception at the Mayflower Inn after the show

Tickets are $95 Dinner at The Mayflower Inn, with a prix fixe, threecours­e dinner. Includes select wine, tax, and gratuity. Seating is at 6 p.m. the evening of the event.
