Celebrate dad with a meal
Looking to take Dad out for a special meal — or a meal combined with a unique experience? These Connecticut restaurants offer Father’s Day events with pig roasts, steak dinners, lobster feasts, bourbon tastings, bowling and cigars.
High Rollers Luxury Lanes & Sports Lounge at Foxwoods offers a Sunday Dad Package June 19. The package is $120 for the first four guests (and $20 for each additional guest) and features two games of bowling with shoe rental, a complimentary cocktail or beer for Dad, one combo plate and a cheeseburger pizza for everyone to share. The Charles in Wethersfield is hosting a Father’s Day pig roast at 3 p.m., with a cigar and bourbon experience in the evening. The menu includes roasted heritage breed pig, St. Louis ribs, homemade sausage links, salt-domebaked salmon, chilled shrimp salad, and sides like cole slaw, orzo and potato salads, baked beans, and mac and cheese.
Dessert includes watermelon, banana pudding and mixed berry trifle. A kids’ menu is available, with fried chicken.
Cost is $60 for adults, $30 for kids 10 to 15, and $15 for kids under 10. The cigar and bourbon experience, which features a Gentlemen’s
Aroma cigar and flight of Whistle Pig, is an extra $20 and will take place from 6 to 9 p.m.
Black Rock Social House in Bridgeport hosts a Sunday jazz brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with $3 mimosas and bellinis. Dads get any draft beer and Bloody Marys for $5.
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar in West Hartford offers a Father’s Day three-course menu from June 16 to 20, with choice of salad, entree and dessert. Main courses include petite filet mignon with crab-stuffed shrimp, petite filet with lobster scampi, or prime surf and turf, with a 20ounce ribeye and lobster tail.
Max Chef to Farm hosts a lobster surf-and-turf Father’s Day feast at Simsbury’s Rosedale Farms & Vineyards from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The menu includes baked stuffed lobster, grilled steak, clam chowder, farmers’ market salad, sides and hamburgers and hot dogs for kids. Local beer, Rosedale wine, specialty cocktails and raw bar selections will be available at additional cost.
Shell & Bones in New Haven offers Father’s Day specials like duck confit flatbread, venison tartare, 20-ounce bone-in dry-aged strip, and eclairs. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Camacho Garage in New Haven, and its sibling restaurants
Geronimo Tequila Bar and Southwest Grill in New Haven and Fairfield, will all offer extended brunch hours — until 4 p.m. — with food and cocktail specials.
The Craft in East Granby cohosts a Father’s Day class on June 26 with bladesmith Brian Evelich. In an outdoor setting, Evelich will teach the introductory principles of knife crafting, with an emphasis on culinary knife uses and care.
Each participant will get handson experience pre-shaping a knife that can later be finished at Evelich’s shop. Cost is $145 and includes snacks and one beer or cocktail from The Craft (and complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks.)
