Torrington hospital auxiliary announces artist of the month
TORRINGTON — The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary is featuring the artwork of Janet Iffland now through early July in the hospital's main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington.
The public is invited to view and buy the works through the Charlotte Gift Shop as part of the Auxiliary's ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. Proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Iffland is an award-winning landscape artist. She has been plein air, or open air, painting and studio painting for the past 15 years. She has taken classes and workshops from nationally prominent artists, including Douglas David and Mark Boedges, and has attended plein air conventions in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Janet was born in Connecticut and has been a lifelong artist there. She is an active plein air painter in her winter home in Naples, Florida, according to a statement.
The subjects of Iffland's paintings feature shoreline scenes, as well as boats, parks and city scenes in Naples, Florida, and the rural country surrounding areas of Connecticut, according to the statement. She has been honored with numerous show awards, and has been on the cover of Litchfield Hills Magazine. She is represented by Center Framing & Art, West Hartford, and High Tide Studio & Gallery in Naples, Florida. She is a member of Housatonic Valley Art Association, Great Barrington, Mass., and Naples Art Association in Naples, Florida.
Iffland paints homes and farms on commission to preserve family memories. She teaches studio and plein air classes, as well as private classes giving new artists the confidence to create beautiful paintings using her techniques. For more examples of her artwork, go to www.janietiffland .com.
