Ten-2-One paints sunflowers at Circle Gallery
THOMASTON — The Ten-2-One Artists, part of the Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston, has been painting sunflowers side by side for about a month.
Some passers-by also picked up a brush while visiting the Crescent Gallery. Each sunflower is unique.
"I'd like to think we are outstanding in our field' of art," said Pat Piscopo, coordinator of the group.
Many artists across the world are painting sunflowers for Ukraine. This movement is to show solidarity for the Ukrainian people.
The 4' by 8' painting was recently completed, and is hanging outside the Crescent Gallery,158 Main Street, Thomaston.
This public art piece is meant to bring awareness, members said. According to a 1993 Encyclopedia of Ukraine, in the content of war, sunflowers signify that Russia will not crush Ukraine's spirit.
The Ten-2-One Artists hope that a business, organization, or person would be interested and willing to publicly display this tribute, and coordinate donations to help the people of Ukraine.
The group's new show at the gallery is “Behind the Scenes”, which runs through July 14.
“It's been said ‘every picture tells a story.' This exhibit focuses on an artists' vision and the journey of creativity. The Ten-2-One Artists were encouraged to post a synopsis of their inspiration next the artwork. Learn the process of what sparks art, and how an idea is transformed into a painting,” members said.
Residents are invited to visit the Crescent Gallery, 158 Main Street, Thomaston and meet the artists any Thursday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Visit www.ten-2-oneartists.com for more information.
