The spring high school sports season is in full swing and Eugene-area athletes are turning in top performanc­es.

Here are the top performers for high school baseball, girls flag football, lacrosse, tennis and more in Lane County.

Friday, April 12

BASEBALL

Junction City 12, Cottage Grove 0: Josh Berry tallied a single, double, triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Tigers in a 12-0 win over Cottage Grove in Game 1.

Kaden Shafer threw a shutout in 5.0 innings with six strikeouts and earned the victory for the Tigers. The sophomore allowed four hits and two walks.

Connor Koon had a double, triple, two RBIs and one run scored in the Tigers 12-2 win against Cottage Grove in Game 2.

Conner Clift allowed one hit in 5.0 innings pitched with seven strikeouts in the victory for the Tigers. The sophomore allowed two runs, one earned run and three walks. Freshman Landon Van Hecke registered one strikeout in 1.0 inning pitched for the Tigers.

GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL

Thurston 7, South Eugene 0 Creswell 6, Thurston 0 Creswell 13, South Eugene 6

GIRLS GOLF

Marist’s Esha Reddy won the Cottage Grove Invitation­al with a 1-underpar 71 at Emerald Valley Golf Club. Sheldon’s Jill Potter placed second at 4-over-par 76.

Wednesday, April 10

GIRLS LACROSSE

Marist 21, Sheldon 10: Marist’s Rowan De Lee scored 8 goals and an assist while Kegan De Lee had 7 goals and four assists.

BOYS LACROSSE

South Eugene 17, Marist 2: The Axe’s Lucas Clemons had 5 goals and three assists, and Bilii Blackhorn scored 5

goals. South Eugene’s Marston Scher had 2 goals and three assists and Sayer Thomas had 2 goals and an assist.

BOYS TENNIS

South Eugene defeated Roseburg, 6-0.

Freshman Yehuda Zaretsky won at second singles in a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 victory over Massimo Falleni. Blake Chandler at first singles led the Axe to a 6-2, 7-5 win over Alex Howard.

Ethan Park and Arnav Sivanandan swept in two sets at third and fourth singles, respective­ly, for the Axe.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

South Eugene girls defeated Churchill and Willamette in a tri-meet at South Eugene High School.

The Axe won seven events: Capri Betenson 100 meters (12.52 PR); Elizabeth McCart 800 meters (2:33.53); Sydney Chandler 1,500 meters (5:30.12); Lyla Smith 300 meter hurdles (49.18); Genna Bretschnei­der, Smith, Renee Watkins, Sydney Mills 4x100 meter relay (52.71); Lucia Berwind Hoffmann was a double winner in discus (personal record 103-0) and javelin (102-5).

Churchill’s Aliette D’Arcy was a double winner in triple jump (32-1.75) and high jump (4-6).

Churchill’s Nick Miller won the 110 meter hurdles (16.36) and 300 meter hurdles (43.46).

Tuesday, April 9

BASEBALL

Thurston 9, North Eugene 0: Grady Saunders tossed a one-hit shutout, registerin­g 14 strikeouts and one walk to lead the Colts to a 9-0 win over the Highlander­s.

Eli Crist had a double and three RBIs. Saunders had a double and two RBIs.

SOFTBALL

Thurston 11, North Eugene 1: Kasey Ogan tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts in the Colts 11-1 win over the Highlander­s.

Bailey Tovey had two two-run homers and four RBIs. Emily Spain had two triples, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Monday, April 8

BOYS GOLF

Thurston won the North Eugene Invitation­al against a field of six teams at Shadow Hills Country Club.

Thurston sophomore Lincoln Wiedenmann won his first tournament of the season at 81 while Peyton Wiedenmann placed second with 82.

GIRLS GOLF

North Eugene won the invitation­al as host team on Monday at Shadow Hills Country Club.

Highlander junior Francesca Tomp won the tournament at 77. Marist’s Esha Reddy came in second at 79 and Thurston’s Olivia Grandberry finished third with 85.
