Boys Track and Field

DOCK WINS AT SHIPPENSBURG >> It was a great team win for the boys at the 90th running of the Shippensburg High School Invitational. Sophomore Austin Kratz sparked the day with a big jump in the long jump. Kratz’s first jump of the day was enough to hold off the field for the remainder of the event. He went 22 foot 8 ½ inches for a new school record bettering the old record set by Pat Landes (‘03) by just over 11 inches. In the 100 meter Austin continued his winning ways by edging out last year’s AA State meet Champion by 2 100th of a second running to a new school record 10.95. The highlight of the meet came when Kratz raced the 200 meter to a new school record and Pennsylvania’s No. 1 time of 21.74. This time broke the meet record set by Earl Brown (21.76) in 1974. Kratz with teammates Ian Anderson, Ethan Schimek, and Josh Wolfe then anchored the boys 4x400 meter relay team to a new season’s best time of 3:35.11 and a second place.

Senior Josh Wolfe also had a great day breaking his own school record in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles running 39.74 for first place. He settled for a silver in the 110 meter high hurdles running 15.05 and took 7th overall in the triple jump with a new personal best leap of 40 foot 10 ¼ inches.

Senior Cole Rupert battled a nagging leg injury to take a win in the pole vault, jumping 12 foot 6 inches. In the rarely raced 2000 meter steeplechase, sophomore Isaiah Denlinger broke the school record running 7:09.67 to surpass his brother Tyler’s record (7:11.41) from 2010.

Girls Track and Field

DOCK WINS AT SHIPPENSBURG >> It was a surprising (repeat) team win for the Christopher Dock girls at the 90th running of the Shippensburg High School Invitational. The Dock girls were without some of their athletes due to injury but other key members stepped up and took care of business. Many of Dock’s 76 points came from senior Haley Anderson. She had a monster day winning the triple jump with a personal best 36 foot 2 ¾ inch leap. Haley surpassed her sister Lauren Anderson (‘14) in the Dock records and is now Dock’s number two all-time farthest Triple Jumper just behind Tabitha Miller (‘15). Anderson wasn’t done there. She then won the 100m hurdles with a new personal best 15.97 and later in the day won the 300m intermediate hurdles with another personal best time of 46.79. All three of her marks on the day met or exceeded the AA State Qualifying Standard. To top off her day she joined her teammates Abbie Woods, Lindsey Bernd, and Maddison Landis on the winning 4x400m relay that went on to run a season’s best 4:10.52.

In the girls 1600 meter, senior Maddison Landis ran by herself for a Pennsylvania elite time of 5:10.37.
