Child porn suspect faces felony charges
NORRISTOWN >> The Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce has netted another arrest on child pornography and distribution, this time, a 23-year-old Upper Gwynedd man.
Kisu Sohn, 23, of the 1200 block of Oxford Circle, was charged with multiple felonies including distribution and possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication device, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele announced Tuesday.
Detectives from the internet crimes task force were tracking files that were known to contain child pornography through peer-
to-peer file sharing programs, according to the criminal complaint. Detectives were able to connect to a user and downloaded seven video files, each depicting graphic sex acts involving underage boys.
Investigators were able to track the user’s IP address to the Oxford Circle home. When police went to search the home, Sohn admitted to police that he had downloaded a video of an adult having sex with a child, the complaint said. Sohn told police he was “curious.”
According to the criminal complaint, investigators confiscated Sohn’s computer and found a total of 59 videos and two images that contained child pornography.
Sohn was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge William I. Maruszczak and released on $50,000 unsecured cash bail, according to the press release.
He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. Assistant District Attorney James Price will prosecute the case.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task
Force “aggressively and proactively” investigates the exploitation of children online, the release said.
“The focus of ICAC is to protect children from those who use the internet as a tool to entice children or re-victimize children by obtaining and distributing child pornography,” Steele said previously when recognizing members of the task force in June. “ICAC provides a significant number of training courses and seminars in an effort to equip the affiliated officers with the knowledge they need to successfully investigate such cases.”
