Charles Russell Phillips of Doylestown
Charles R. Phillips, affectionately known as “Charlie,” passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2016, at Golden Living on Maple Avenue in Doylestown, PA.
Originally from Philadelphia and named for his father and grandfather, he was the third of five children born to Charles Alvan Phillips and Dorothy Lillian (Person) Phillips.
Instructed in the ways of electricity as the first son of an electrician, he expanded to electronics and served in the U.S. Air Force overseas and stateside upon graduating from Central Bucks High School in Doylestown, PA, Class of 1967.
After his Vietnam-era military service, he started a family supporting them as an Industrial Electrician at American Olean Tile and other factories local to Lansdale, PA, as well as doing electronics. He retired from this work in 2014.
His inspirations were railroads, locomotives, motorbikes and good movies. He was a gentle man. He advocated for Cancer Research and Second Amendment rights.
He is survived by his children, who are: Susan Louise in Covington, KY, and Charles Russell II of Lansdale, PA; along with a beloved granddaughter, Ashley Jeffries of Gainesville, Florida. Also his siblings: Jane in Lexington, KY, Kathleen in Perkasie, PA, William in Montgomery County, PA, and John in Bucks County, PA; as well as nieces and nephews, Alexander, Sarah, Amy and Claudia.
He was predeceased in the world by his beloved wife, Debra. She became an angel this past December. He loved her.
A celebration of life will be announced at the discretion of his children.
