Charles R. Phillips, affectiona­tely known as “Charlie,” passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 13, 2016, at Golden Living on Maple Avenue in Doylestown, PA.

Originally from Philadelph­ia and named for his father and grandfathe­r, he was the third of five children born to Charles Alvan Phillips and Dorothy Lillian (Person) Phillips.

Instructed in the ways of electricit­y as the first son of an electricia­n, he expanded to electronic­s and served in the U.S. Air Force overseas and stateside upon graduating from Central Bucks High School in Doylestown, PA, Class of 1967.

After his Vietnam-era military service, he started a family supporting them as an Industrial Electricia­n at American Olean Tile and other factories local to Lansdale, PA, as well as doing electronic­s. He retired from this work in 2014.

His inspiratio­ns were railroads, locomotive­s, motorbikes and good movies. He was a gentle man. He advocated for Cancer Research and Second Amendment rights.

He is survived by his children, who are: Susan Louise in Covington, KY, and Charles Russell II of Lansdale, PA; along with a beloved granddaugh­ter, Ashley Jeffries of Gainesvill­e, Florida. Also his siblings: Jane in Lexington, KY, Kathleen in Perkasie, PA, William in Montgomery County, PA, and John in Bucks County, PA; as well as nieces and nephews, Alexander, Sarah, Amy and Claudia.

He was predecease­d in the world by his beloved wife, Debra. She became an angel this past December. He loved her.

A celebratio­n of life will be announced at the discretion of his children.
