A 39-year-old man was taken into custody on a warrant and arraigned Tuesday in connection with a July incident in which he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Lansdale apartment and assaulted her and her boyfriend before fleeing, according to police.

Charles Stanley Davis — who has no fixed address, according to court documents — has been charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespassing, multiple counts of misdemeanor simple assault and reckless endangerment, and misdemeanor criminal mischief.

Lansdale police said in a criminal complaint that around 1:30 a.m. on July 8, cops went to a second-floor residence on East Fourth Street for a reported domestic incident in progress and learned from a woman in the home that she had been asleep with her boyfriend when she heard knocking at her kitchen door that stopped after a couple of minutes, then looked up to see Newman, her former boyfriend, standing in her bedroom.

The woman told police that Newman started punching her in the face and arm, then struck her boyfriend in the nose before running out of the residence, according to the complaint.

Officers observed that the woman’s right eye was injured and that the male victim was bleeding from cuts on his nose, court documents state.

Investigators determined that Newman had climbed onto the second-floor roof and pushed in a window air conditioning unit to gain access to the residence, the complaint indicates.

A warrant for Newman’s arrest was issued on Aug. 8.

After the arraignment, Newman was permitted to remain free on his own recognizance by Lansdale District Judge Edward Levine based on the recommendation of prosecutors.

A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Oct. 13.
