Mary Elizabeth Fretz, age 80, of Souderton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

She was the beloved wife of the late Rodger Allen Fretz, with whom she shared 29 years of marriage.

Born on July 10, 1936, in Lansdale, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Morton and Mary Anna (Miller) Kerns.

Mary, or as she was commonly known as “Mama Fretz,” was a faithful Philles fan and was “the master” of jigsaw puzzles. She was well known for her great sense of humor, Her passion was her family, and she cherished the times they spent together and was proud to finally become a grandmothe­r.

She is survived by her children, Mary Anna Fretz, Rhonda Allyson Fretz and Terry Allen Fretz; grandchild­ren, Alaina Marie and Maggie Elizabeth Fretz; and siblings, Anna Mae Transue, John Morton Kerns, Sandra Ruth Amey and William Clarence Kerns.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother George Henry Kerns.

Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysvil­le Pike, Telford (Franconia Township), where the family will receive guests from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Zion Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons in Mary’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
