A 25-year-old Towamencin woman is facing aggravated assault and other charges for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during an argument, according to police.

Ariel Annie Distel, of the 1100 block of Snyder Road, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment and possession of an instrument of crime with intent, and summary harassment in connection with the alleged March 30 incident

Towamencin police said in a criminal complaint that cops responded to Distel’s residence shortly after 5 a.m. that morning for a report of an armed subject and spoke to Distel’s boyfriend, who showed officers a laceration on his finger

that he said was caused by his girlfriend, who he said was still armed with a knife when he ran out of their residence.

Inside, cops made contact with Distel, who appeared intoxicated and denied assaulting her boyfriend with a knife, according to the complaint. However, she told police that she owned a small folding knife that could be found in a shoe box in the living room, which cops subsequently recovered, but she claimed she wasn’t holding the knife while she was arguing with her boyfriend, court documents indicate.

Distel’s boyfriend said that during their argument, Distel came at him with the knife and when he tried to push her away she cut his finger, and then stabbed him in the right collarbone area, where cops observed a small puncture wound.

Distel was arrested and arraigned, then permitted to remain free on $5,000 unsecured bail while awaiting an April 13 preliminary hearing in the matter.
